Nestled-up on a foggy bay, Baysmouth city was born and raised by the sea. Once a lonely fisherman community on a desert island, Baysmouth was slowly upgraded to a great capital city, becoming one of the greatest naval bases of Sornieth. From there the Tidal Empire was born and expanded, and its citizens patiently learned how to tame the raging ocean and use it on their favour. Baysmouth’s sharp rocky seaside and foggy horizon have made many victims before; piles of shipwrecks covered the shallow waters, a deadly reminder of the sea’s dexterity… But we all know that one dragon’s ruin is another’s glory, and the locals used to feast on the wrecks, removing the wooden and metal plates, stealing supplies, maps, navigating instruments and gold. Everything they got from the ships was given a use, from house building, to boat repairs. The dragons consumed those wrecks like seagulls on a whale’s carcass. Nothing was left behind but the rotten pieces of rigging… The community prospered, as the shoreline was too tricky to enter, pirates and neighbouring clans never dared to approach the small village. There it stood, at the top of a coral plateau, watching over the deep blue ocean…As the cruel beliefs of a faction called “The Flame Seers” started to spread over the neighbouring waters, dozens of “imperfect” coatl hatchlings were thrown at the sea at their own luck, a desperate action, a blind bet to save their lives... Most of them were consumed by the waves as soon as their destiny-less journey started, but some of them survived, being saved by the sharp eyes of the reef’s villagers. These hatchings were raised between the hunters and seamen, and eventually grew the same interests as them. They helped to improve the village, expand borders and create what is called Baysmouth nowadays. Baysmouth became a beacon of hope to the abandoned hatchlings and to every dragon in need of a new beginning, and when minds come together, they can think way better. As the borders slowly expanded over that lonely island, what once was a small village became a growing city, filled with life and determination. Their home was a safe and tranquil place, but it was not enough. One of those lost hatchlings, now a full grown dragon, decided that it was time to explore the sea beyond their geological shield. From their first journey, they found a deep wave-less bay right by the side of the reef. Protected by sharp formations and a thick coat of fog, that place was perfect for a new harbour. The city of Baysmouth was born, and from there, new expansions and explorations begun. The once reclusive residents were now ready to see the world out of their stone shell, and to face the dangers out of it. Naval battles and raids brought gold, resources and allies, trade started to develop between neighbouring clans. Under the lead of those “imperfect” coatls, the island prospered, subduing the enemies around, and bringing peace to their portion of the sea. The Tidal Empire stands strong before their enemies and the sea’s inhospitality, growing along with their allies…
