The Duchy of Averancia is a small nation that has suffered much in the thousand years since its founding. In its most recent chaotic event, the young Duke disappeared without a trace, leaving no heir. It has been three years since then, and many aspects of the government and economy are failing as the Ducal throne remains empty.
- Anvilstar Keep: Seat of the Ducal Throne.
- Redstone Town: Ancient Capitol of Averancia.
- Market Town: A trading hub for the nation with docks and a harbor.
- Balgold: A halfling village centered on agriculture and woodcutting.
- Blackhill: A halfling village centered on agriculture, stonecutting, and woodcutting.
- Sanctuary of Avlin: A ornate town of religious buildings and monastic buildings, including a Cathedral, dedicated to the Church of Elion. The bishop's palace is also in Avlin.
- The Crimson Sea: The sea south and east of Averancia. On clear evenings, the haze from the setting sun turns the sky pink and the foam of the sea reddish for a few moments.
- The Green Hunt: A forest that has been cleared of most large predatory animals. Used as a hunting forest for the Ducal family of Anvilstar, all others who hunt here are considered poaching.
- The River Haven: Flowing from the Blackridge Mountains all the way to the Crimson Sea, the River Haven follows a gentle, sloping meander, but floods in the spring from snow melts.
- The Blackridge: A series of high forested mountains with snow at their peaks. In warm springs and summers, the snow melts, contributing to flooding of the River Haven.
- Outlaw's Forest: The northern edge of this large wood is used for lumber and hunting, but the deeper parts of the forest are wild and untamed, though bandits and highwaymen have been known to harass those who venture too deep within.
- Forsaken Desert: The desert acts as the northeastern border of Averancia and in the past decade has begun to encroach upon the Sanctuary of Avlin. Rather than try to fight against this, the Church of Elion have incorporated the presence of the desert into their religious ceremonies.
