The Bleeding Citadel is a holy sanctuary found on the plane of Avernus in the Nine Hells. The citadel sits atop and within a massive mound seemingly living tissue referred to as the Scab.

Great chains of infernal iron bind the citadel to the ground surrounding the living hill.

The alabaster temple is partially covered by the Scab, to the point where little more than its domed roofs are still visible.

The citadel's absorption by the Scab is an ongoing process, believed by some to fully envelop it by some point.
