(See my page for the other floors)
These old elven ruins have long been abandoned but since a few years back the cultists on the Island of the Forsaken have used the ruins as a base.
From the stairs leading down from the Castle's main floor a large hall opens up. Halfway through the hallway the roof and walls have caved in and blocked the way. This first room is an open room with not much going on. The western door leads to three rooms. "The Morgue", "The Lecture-hall" and the "Laboratory”.
“The Morgue” is a grim place where prisoners and unlucky people get killed and dissected, their body parts used in foul magics in the creation of flesh golems and sinister experiments. The screams coming from this room can be heard echoing around the whole floor.
“The Lecture-hall” is an open room with several levels of benches built up towards the main platform where dark magics and rituals are taught. In the back of the room a small library and study are set up for the students.
“The Laboratory” consists of several large brewing pots and alchemy tables filled with vials, tubes and jars. Spread around the room are all kinds of ingredients and components together with books and documents about potions, elixirs and potions.
On the east side of the main hall lies another three sets of rooms. “The Altar”, “Room of binding” and “Cave of bones”. A secret passage from the altar room lies the room “The old portals”.
“The old portals” is an old room from the elvish times. Four gateways are built but they are not active. A ritual has been set up in front of one portal that seems to have been reopened. Supplies are gathered in the room and the documents scattered around the room tell you about a secret mission leading through the portal.
“The Altar” is a round room with a domed shaped ceiling. Surrounded by lights and pillars stands a large altar. There are signs of both blood and dark magics scattered around the altar. One of the pillars in the circle seems to be less withered and damage than the others…
“The room of bindings” hosts two ritual chambers where magical artifacts and powerful spells bind and corrupt summoned elements and beings.
“Cave of bones” is located through an opening in the cave wall and leading down deeper into the earth. Scattered around lies thousands and thousands of bones. One pile so tall it almost hits the cave roof. Deeper in the cave a small you get greeted by a lone torch. At a small pond stands a few chests with heavy locks. The content of the chests is clear when looking at the ground as gold and silver coins are glittering in the torch light.
The last rooms are the two chapel wings and the second half of the main hall and the old elven throne.
The western chapel has a grim feeling with skulls and bones carved into the marble. A large skull sits on top of the altar.
The eastern chapel is more plain and on top of the altar sits a large mirror. Looking through it your gaze is met not by your reflection but tormented spirits.
In the end of the main hall stands the old elven throne, alone but yet so intimidating…
This is a part of the "Ruins of Echrul" battle map made for the Island of Forsaken.
There are both a light and easy playable version of this map and a darker verison with ligths and shadows for a more ambient feeling.
