This island is the borderlands to the rest of Alakash's realm to the south of the Central Infernum Infinitus known as the South Blood Vats, where the nephalim Marduk put the Infernal Master into a sort of house arrest during the angelic occupation. It is not generally a place sought after to settle in even by other devils due to its overall lack of natural resources. All other Infernal Masters agree however that if anyone can turn an otherwise useless island into something practical, it is Alakash. The land was once only populated by titanic burrow wyrms, animal creatures native to the Infernum Infinitus that remain poised in a single location once burrowed into the stone. They do not start off so big, but will grow as time passes. After the Great Lamentation, referred to by the Body of Heaven as the fall from grace, Alakash went mad for a short time and sought all opportunities he could to battle large monsters, and the wyrms had settled in here long before The Devil arrived. When he was done doing away with the largest ones, it left giant craters in the ground. Eventually, as the Infinitus was being explored and studied, the recipe for blood wine was discovered in Old Madeskaryan, although the region is lacking a chief ingredient called worm bark, a substance found in abundance in the Thorn Garden. After a time, blood wine went into such a high demand that it was becoming difficult to manufacture en mass, so Alakash designed a large network of manufacturing plants from the land he chose to occupy. The Umbra Pit supplied him with metal, and moreover on useless territories, the island also had no water whatsoever originally, so Leviathan shipped copious amounts of it to him too. Alakash's city of Agony took form as more devils came to support his project. But if you are considering a visit here, be warned: the locals are cold scientist types and revel in torture, both sadistically and masochistically like their Infernal Master. Alakash believes the only way to reach sheer enlightenment of pleasure is by enduring pain, so don't be surprised if you find the streets of Agony adorned with bodies, body parts, and individuals confined in torturous fashions. The Flesh Maze is one of Alakash's most notorious inventions that can even frighten other devils, which he uses to test the resolve of his own devils, and has thrown more than one seraphim into it. The Maze is said to be populated by abominations of flesh, and it is believed they are those that failed to emerge to the portal on the other side. Although most of the burrow wyrms are gone, the Mouth of Alakash is the only titan he let live which is how it got its name. He now uses it as an execution method for traitors and bandits. Speaking of bandits, if you leave the Infernopolis, do watch yourself out there, for many imp tribes have settled here, looking to steal blood wine cargo among other things. They can be easily spotted, for Alakash has harnessed red lightning into electricity in the Infernum, so Agony and its outposts no longer rely on hellfire to brighten the environment. Imps however posses no such knowledge and continue their use of campfires. Stay safe travelers, and welcome to the Blood Vats!
