The City of Harmony

The city of Harmony is a grand and sprawling metropolis, overseen by the Lord of the land. It has varied topography and many of the typical districts you'd find in a larger town. While races of all types inhabit all facets of this town (it's not unusual for a group of nobles to contain Humans, Lizardfolk, even a Half-Orc!) the economic divide is truly what separates and divides citizens of Harmony.

The Lord's Keep marks the city centre, flanked by the Financial District and the West End, where wealthier citizens live and conduct business. The Domain is the high-end shopping district, populated with expensive wares and run by snooty shopkeeps who won't deal with you unless you're a citizen of a certain class.

Pigboil University houses the scholars of the region, typically born of a higher caste. The grand towers of Pigboil are painfully visible to the simpler farmfolk to the North, across the wide river. While they are considered more of a "middle class" people due to the rich and fertile soil that yields consistently high quality crops, they're still considered ineligible for higher education.

South of the West End lies the Guildhall District, realm of the artisans and smiths of the region. Simple folks, but quite gifted - Harmony is known for some of the finest crafted goods in the entire continent. It's considered a good and honest way of life to join an artisan guild upon maturity and work your way up the ranks.

The Green Docks are named so for the fine layer of fungal dust that seems to settle on everything. Myconids make up the majority of those working and living by the docks, and the accompanying spores have settled into every nook and cranny. It's not poisonous or harmful...for most.

Smuggler's Cove takes advantage of the small inlet just East of the Green Docks, and many illegal or unsavory transactions occur here. Most routes in are blocked by the natural landscape (small but jagged rocky hills surround the inlet, and Wyrmlings breed unchecked in the safety of the mountain caves) and any remaining routes are heavily guarded. It's heavily contested whether or not this cove is "technically" part of Harmony at all, and therefore may or may not be subject to its laws.

Tymora Bazaar marks the start of the more magical part of Harmony, and the artisans here are more inclined to sling potions and charms than high-end jewelry or solid armor. Tymora - the goddess of luck - is said to have blessed the first shopkeep of the bazaar, and with its reputation for having whatever you need at (mostly) fair prices, it seems the blessing still holds; The bazaar is a thriving and colorful place.

Just East of Tymora Bazaar lies the East End, where most magical residents lay their heads at night. The hot dry air initially created a desert region in the east, but an underground Cenote (built by unknown sub-world dwellers) causes desert vegetation to thrive. The premier Inn of the East, La Sesenta Novena, is where the average traveler comes upon arrival in Harmony.

The Red Crystal District is a secretive and salacious area of town, where many citizens - nobles and paupers alike - come to have their carnal desires satisfied. The naturally occurring red crystals have a mollifying affect, and without a spell, potion, or charm to counteract the symptoms, you may wake up later without realizing just how much coin you'd spent.

The path from the Red Crystal District leads to the slums of Harmony, known colloquially as The Bends. Here, the poorest denizens of Harmony scrape together a living. A secret cave entrance through the jagged hills leads to Smuggler's Cove, and a chance to make some decent coin - if you're willing to leave your morals where you came from.

North of the Lord's Keep lies the Military Garrison, which trains recruits and sends out patrols to keep the city in check. The Lord's military are only as good as the men and women wearing the uniform, and while one guard might be bribed to turn a blind eye, the other will have you swiftly in the stockade before you even get your coin purse out.

The military position is intentional - just to the East lies the Warren, home of the followers of the terrifying goddess Beshaba, estranged sister of Tymora and the Queen of Misfortune. Her followers believe that the only way to avoid misfortune is to dedicate their lives to her, and most of these cultists came here on a pilgrimage after suffering a devastating loss of some kind...often after being visited by Beshaba's priests shortly after the incident. The newer cultists were typically of a higher station in their prior lives, and so the Warren has grown exponentially since receiving these new tithes - an initiative suggested by the new Dark Cleric, who came to power after misfortune befell their predecessor.

Our band of misfits starts the campaign at the neutral and popular tavern, The Sticky Beaver. From here, they have access to most of the regions in the campaign. Hope you like my custom city map, have fun!
