This gold mine is powered by a steam generator outside (bottom right building) and some batteries scattered throughout the cave system. Levers on the control platforms send/call the carts, and rotate the track turn table in the main chamber. Service tunnels connect most of the mine shafts and the main corridor making for easy escape in emergencies. There is also a repair stand in the main cavern, and partially collapsed cavern that leads to a deeper dungeon...
Main hook- A gang of (pick a monster, i went with evil werebears displaced by a dragon) has invaded the mine and set up camp (lower left), killing several people. There are barrels of explosives stashed in two sections of the mine, one stash at the repair stand and the other in a back of the area the players may use these explosives and the automatic minecart system in creative ways...or just run in.
The cave system has an alternate exit, from which the monsters invaded. Players might investigate the broken barricade meant to keep such creatures out...as a fun gag, if my party goes too far I throw a high level basilisk or something that chases them back into the mines and towards the original threat. Mayhem!
