In the vast expanse of a shifting desert, a two-pronged wizard tower rises from the sand. The build-up of sand around the tower (which originally reached 6 floors into the sky) submerged the ground floor, turning it into a basement. Meanwhile, the balcony of the once-sceond floor now functions as the front door to this sunken wizardly home. The wizard who resides here is still annoyed that all the lab furniture had to be moved down to the "basement" and all the sitting room furniture up to the new ground floor. Guests who look closely can even see traces of an old teleportation circle peeking out from underneath the sitting room rugs.
All doors are locked (and perhaps magically trapped?) to ensure wandering eyes and hands don't venture where they're unwelcome. As such, guests generally only see the sitting room and teleportation room. Visitors rarely come from the desert, so most see the teleportation room as the entryway to the tower. Plus, any time the front door is opened into the sitting room, sand gets blown in, and it makes something of a mess.
The wizard's private chambers on the third floor are the only access point to the second, smaller tower, via a suspended stone walkway. From there, a trapdoor on each floor reveals a ladder that leads further down. This second tower is used for storage, but when wizards are involved, that could suggest all manner of magical goodies. The broom at the very bottom of the tower looks particularly... intriguing.
Despite living in a desert, this wizard is a researcher of bioluminescent flora. The lab where all the flora is grown can be found on the fourth floor, and plants from the lab are placed throughout the entire tower, gently illuminating each floor. The massive, glowing tree also illuminates the glass-bottomed pool of the fifth floor, giving the highest point of the tower an extra magical glow. What could the wizard be keeping in the chest up there...?
Hopefully the sand never rises any higher, because there are no doors on the third floor, and the wizard does not want to move furniture around again.
