I would like to begin this section with an apology to Dodo because I feel like a real jerk: here I've made four book pieces and completely forgot it was one of his artworks that inspired all of these to some degree. So I will rectify my error by referring to The Starseeker's Tome of Forgotten Knowledge now. Go and check out this wonderful piece if you have not already done so.
Now that that little bit of embarrassment is over, this image exists due to a private challenge from my good friend LilyRose I happily accepted. I was considering what to make next, and she recommended something around Egyptology. This worked out fine for me because since last year, I've been digging into a lot of it as I was planning out my third (unfinished) novel The Hourglass.
The passages in the book were taken directly from an English translation of The Egyptian Book of the Dead by Normandi Ellis. When I read it, I was undergoing severe back pain, and although this is likely a coincidence, I felt much better shortly after completing the read, so I choose to believe her poetic words healed me with their magic. Ha!
The hieroglyphs and the goddess Hathor I redrew from a free stock photo on the public domain.
Last but not least, if there are any ancient civilization music lovers out there, I would like to recommend an album called Civilizations by Derek Fiechter & Brandon Fiechter, who cover a broad range of cultures in a single album. Any time I'm working on this kind of stuff, I throw this music on, and let it atmospherically transport me to ancient time periods. Wonderful stuff, check it out!

The reason I was keen on making a piece around the goddess Hathor is because one of my main characters in my second & third novels is a young Egyptian lady, who was made a vampire no less than five thousand years before the main stories takes place, 1684 & the 1790's. The character is a storyteller, dancer and musician, as was the ancient tradition around priestesses of Hathor, and given her supernatural ability to charm, she is often compared to the goddess herself by other characters.
The main antagonist of the last novel is recognized as the first lich ever to exist, also the basis of another map I made, The Abandoned City of Nergal. In the story, he becomes Osiris for the Egyptians during the mysterious period mentioned in their pantheon when gods ruled over mankind, before the first pharaoh named Narmer was handed down the throne by Horus. Although he serves as a proper antagonist figure for my story, as a character, I wanted to show a kinder side of him, so as to describe that he switched gears over a very long time. The Osiris quote in this image tremendously helped me do that, so I included it here.
That is all from me for now. Happy viewing everyone!
