The Winterlands

Across the north of the continent surrounded by the Raven Queen’s Sea is a land of ice and cold. Along the coast, many islands are scattered about these waters. Some of the largest forests in the world blanket the coastline, shadowed by imposing mountains in the west and cut by several rivers in the east. Smaller lakes that remain frozen most of the year dot the land as well.

The only remaining Dwarven hold on the continent can be found here. Their Clan-Lord rules from under the Kings Mountains. Past this the land is owned by nature, a place few have ever traveled.

Falagarn Highlands

Shielding the rest of the continent from the cold of the north is one of the largest mountain ranges in the world. This is a wild place where any kind of civilization can only be found in coastal towns and villages. Rangers guide travelers across the rugged terrain, avoiding the secluded druidic orders that protect the land. Guarding this sanctuary too is believed to be the oldest dragon ever to exist

Humans are most prevalent along the coasts in clans famous for exploration, seafaring, and raiding. Inland is much more sparsely populated, but there are always those who wish to brave the wilderness.

Valley of Kurnoth

Along the eastern coast, from the Highlands in the north to the Ashen Lands of the south, and from the Worlds Ocean to the Mahartan Desert is a land of verdant hills and luscious river valleys. This is one of the most populated lands in the world, with its large rivers and their tributaries making this excellent farmland. Many large forests can be found in this region, one famously being one of the sanctuaries of Wood-Elves between the plains and the mountains to the east. Three sister lakes are the source of many of these rivers and are often called the heart of the continent.

This realm is populated mostly by humans, with many of the coastal port cities being as diverse as any would expect, being in the middle of trade routes with the south and west. In the south of the Valley, large numbers of dwarfs can be found that descend from those who fled their homeland centuries ago.

Maharta Desert

To the east of the valley and locked away by several small mountain ranges is a land few have traveled to and returned to tell the tale. Scorching hot days and dangerously cold nights are just one of this land's trials. Water here is almost non-existent. The largest of these lies on a floating island to the south. The great basin that once gave this land life has dried into a barren rock centuries ago. An enclave of human mages rule from atop their flying city to the south. With a fleet of skyships traveling the world, the city is a center for knowledge and arcane arts.

All manner of humanoids have made their way to this oasis in the desert. Outside of the safety of civilization, only the hardiest of the orc tribes have been able to survive in this land.

Golden Coast

Surviving the harshness of the desert brings us to the second of this realm's sanctuaries. Along the eastern coast, fertile floodplains have been cradling civilization for longer than anywhere else on the continent. Large forests lie on either end of this region, with its western side protected by mountains. Off the coast are several large islands that have always served as vital ports for trade with the East. The rich cities of the Golden Coast have attracted people from all across the world. Aside from men, elves are the second largest group in this land. Many merchants from their kingdoms across the seas can be found here, and many more have set up permanent residence in this land. Dwarves, Orcs, Goliaths, and other such hardy races can be found in the mining towns along the mountain ranges in the west.

The Ashen Lands

This region covers the southern tip of the continent, as well as a smattering of volcanic isles, all the way to the continent of Hakar. Sharp mountain ranges cut through the islands, and there is little vegetation that grows in this harsh place. Civilization can only be found in scattered port towns along the islands, and within the remains of the great dwarven fortress of Karak Surtur. Dwarves are the most common people to live in these lands. Within the major cities, their orc overlords are found in large numbers. These settlements too, have large numbers of slaves from across the world working in the mines and forges. All manner of people also live within these cities as everyday citizens and travelers with Tieflings, Goliath, Drow, and Duergar being found in large numbers here.
