Solar Map Ringworld

A template for making a science fiction ringworld system map.

The grassy area is foreground terrain for easy texture painting. There is also an ocean texture on the background layer for easy creation of water features.

Be aware that the "atmosphere" effect surrounding the ringworld is created by the foreground layer. So erasing the foreground layer to create oceans near the edge of the ringworld could damage the atmosphere effect.

Additionally, layer -5 contains alternative star options as well as a few anomalies to use (this layer is hidden by default).

The hexagonal grid is set to 45 x 45 by default. Alternate hexagon grid sizes that keep the grid centered are:

  • 33 x 33 (Offset Y : 2)
  • 45 x 45 (Offset Y : 0)
  • 57 x 57 (Offset Y : -1)
  • 69 x 69 (Offset Y : -2)
  • 81 x 81 (Offset Y : -2)
  • 93 x 93 (Offset Y : -3)
  • 105 x 105 (Offset Y : -3)
  • 117 x 117 (Offset Y : -3)
  • 129 x 129 (Offset Y : -3)
  • 141 x 141 (Offset Y : -4
  • 153 x 153 (Offset Y : -4)
  • 165 x 165 (Offset Y : -4)
  • 177 x 177 (Offset Y : -4)
  • 189 x 189 (Offset Y : -4)
  • 201 x 201 (Offset Y : -4)

Alternatively if you wish to use a square grid, any odd numbered grid size with 0 offset should work.
