Glimmingmourne - An icy city on the top of a mountain

This is the first major city I created. (I recommend to clone it and download it in a higher resolution (I did 5), to see all the details.) It will be the main city for my next campaign so I put a lot of thought, love and hours into it but also a lot of space for komplex issues and mysteries. I will give you a glimpse into what I have planned but feel free to give it your own spin.

About the city:

It's a dwarven city in the north of my world. Glimmingmourne is famous for its hot springs and it was that very thing, that kicked off the first tourism in the city. And when the mines expired, the dwarves doubled down on their tourism industry with a whole sector just for visitors. It created a bunch of new problems and conflicts, but it made the city incredibly rich, so they keep going. The whole part in the south is tourism stuff, with teleportation circles to get visitors here from all over the world. I imagine it to be like Disneyland. People with a lot of money go there every year, poor people go there once in their life and the rest is inbetween. Since it is specifically built for tourists, it just offers a lot of different kinds of entertainment and of course, shopping.

The mountain itself is tunneld by lava tubes that keep the stone at a nice, warm temperature at all times and offers everyone who can afford it, a nice, warm home aswell. Areas with snow on them are basically where those live who can't afford it.The middle class lives in the second inner ring. Blue is mainly for living (the Saphire District), red for entertainment (the Ruby District) and yellow for craftsmanship and most merchants who don't sell in one of the three tent markets (the Citrin District). The inner ring is for the rich people (the Diamond Circlet). Here also live the three big dwarven families in the three biggest houses who rule over the city. One takes care of the law, one takes care of the entertainment and one takes care of the tourism. You can imagine the petty fights and intrigues. The city bears a lot of class and cultural conflict and is secluded enough to keep players there, while offering all kinds of exchange from all over the world via the tourism.

A lot of the buildings, especially the rich and big ones, go deep into the mountain and stories about secret tunnels and underground activities are an open secret. It is said that some dwarfs rule the city from within that have never seen the sunlight and despise all those who have.

Some Key-Locations:

1.: The homes of the ruling dwarf families

2.: Obersvatory

3.: Dwarven Temples

4.: Farms. Most fields are on the mountainsides and most farmers bring their animals outside everyday to feed and to tend their fields. Some even leave their animals outside during the whole summertime and only bring them back for the colder months.

5.: Big Gates

6.: Hotels (all big houses here are hotels)

7.: Vacation home (all smaller big houses are vacation homes for rent)

8.: Gondola (so tourists never have to go through the poorer parts of the city)

9.: Temples of "foreign" deities

10.: Shrine of a folk heroine

11.: The Geometric Garden

12.: University & Campus

13.: Graveyard

14.: The main guard station & guard housing

15.: The Frozen Nest; Prison

16.: Gate into the inside of the mountain (I will do and upload this part later)

17.: Hot Springs
