A small Dwarven village alongside a small mountain lake.
This map and below info is inspired-by and built-upon the info found in this link. I added my own flare for a game I'm running. https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Twilight_Tor.
Twilight Tor is very much secluded as it’s far from the Long Road and Triboar Trail, tucked away in a northern section of the Starmetal Hills.
The village has most of the usual fixtures: an Inn, general store, town hall, farms, stables, and of course a skilled smithy. Near the center of town sits a monument dedicated to Marthammor Duin, neutral good dwarven god of wanderers and patron of dwarves who had left the clanholds to explore the world. He was also known as Finder-of-Trails, Watcher over Wanderers and the Watchful Eye, and was sometimes considered to be an exarch of Moradin.
Some quests I wrote to go along with this are below. Help yourselves. They're basically mini side quests or starters for new characters.
Job Postings at the Town Hall
No town or village is without its share of problems.
Off-beet Thievery
Someone’s been stealing beets from Barmor Thunderbranch’s farm. Normally he wouldn’t care too much about some missing inventory, it’s fairly common for a rodent or other critter to make their way through the fields. But lately it’s become a regular occurrence, and they remove an entire crate each time.
The Lonely Bridegrooms.
Oddly, 3 times in the past month grooms-to-be have been abandoned by their betrothed. But what’s most disturbing about this is that all 3 women are missing. At first the town just assumed she ran off with some other handsomely bearded fellow. But after the 3rd one, the townsfolk are getting anxious and nearing the point of panic. They fear the women are being kidnapped.
Some Usual Stuff
There’s a meeting at sundown on 1-Flamerule regarding the issue of village taxes and expenditures. (If anyone is asked they just assume that nothing will change. The current system is working fine and the town is sustaining itself comfortably)
Rumors
Recently, a silent priest of Lathander had arrived in the middle of the night and stumbled into the Inn with mortal wounds. He is being nursed in a room at the Inn. Due to his vow of silence, it’s unclear what happened to him. The only clue is that the towns people know of a monastic temple nearby in the Starmetal hills, a few miles south of town.
Thorren’s Alehole
The Inn is Thorren’s Alehole, run by Thorren Tuldor. He’s rough around the edges, I mean, really rough. But he means well and always does right by everyone. One of his faults is he is brutally honest. Don’t ask him a question you don’t want the honest answer to. And he’ll always tell you when there’s broccoli stuck in your teeth. The establishment is modest, the rooms are clean, and the prices are fair.
