The Underwyld: Realms Beneath the World
Beneath the surface of the known world lies the Underwyld, an ancient and layered subterranean realm filled with forgotten cities, arcane wonders, and nightmarish horrors. Each depth holds remnants of civilizations lost to time, powerful artifacts, and creatures both mystical and monstrous. Travelers who descend into the Underwyld rarely return unchanged, if they return at all.
The Grand Hall & The Elder Lands
At the apex stands The Grand Hall, a legendary sanctuary atop the World Mountain. Here, celestial beings and ancient scholars guard the wisdom of ages. It is said that those who ascend to the Grand Hall may glimpse the Tree of Life, the divine force that breathes vitality into all living things.
To the east lies the Weathered City, a ruin of silver spires half-sunken in the sea, once home to the greatest naval empire of old. Now, only shadows of their ghostly fleet remain.
The Mirror Realm
Beneath the surface, the Underwyld begins with the Mirror Realm, a place of crystalline caverns and frozen reflections. At its heart lies the Temple of Mirrors, a sacred structure where past and future intertwine, allowing those who enter to glimpse possible destinies. But beware the temple's mirrored halls are known to trap unwary travelers in endless loops of time.
Nether Crystal
Further down lies the Nether Crystal, a domain of radiant gemstones and fractured light. The Crystal Pyramid, an ancient construct of unknown origin, pulses with energy, its inner sanctum holding a forbidden power said to warp reality itself. The Starlite Palace, a fortress of ethereal beauty, is home to the Starborn, enigmatic beings who once ruled the sky but fell into the depths during an age-old calamity.
Azul Ager & The Realm of the Fairies
Past the crystalline depths, nature reclaims the Underwyld in the Azul Ager, a vast subterranean jungle thriving in darkness. It is a place of bioluminescent flora, ancient fungal towers, and massive underground lakes where creatures of myth dwell.
Within the forests of the Azul Ager lies the Realm of the Fairies, a dreamlike world where reality bends at the whim of its inhabitants. The Fey Commons, a city of shifting architecture and eternal twilight, serves as the heart of the fae civilization. Here, time flows unpredictably, and visitors may leave only to find that centuries have passed in the world above.
Primordial Abyss & The Chaos Realm
Descending further into the Underwyld leads to the Primordial Abyss, a realm of unformed chaos, where monstrous beings slumber in darkness. The Burning Maw, a chasm of endless fire, marks the threshold to the deepest and most terrifying level—the Chaos Realm. This infernal abyss is home to unspeakable horrors, remnants of forgotten gods, and forces that seek to unravel reality itself.
The deeper one descends, the harder it is to return. Only the bravest (or most foolish) dare venture into the Underwyld. The further one travels, the thinner the veil between reality and oblivion becomes. Ancient prophecies warn that those who reach the very bottom may uncover a truth too terrible to bear, a truth that could unmake the world itself.
