Most of all, I would like to thank my friends LilyRose and Nemrod for their continued feedback on this piece. I was planning to create this map long ago, but I had to learn more about how to use the tool before even trying it.
I would also like to state that more than a few maps by Florian Herlan inspired me to use the Fantasy Regional style almost exclusively for this one. Another artist whose work with regional is awe inspiring is zzhangster. I was also directed by my friends to check out some of Bryan Martial Arts' absolutely breathtaking regional maps as concerns atmosphere. Otherwise this is one of the capital cities in my alternate dimension, the Infernum Infinitus. in a region called the Blood Vats. What follows is a descriptive segment meant to pair with this map in case you are interested in reading about my realm. To all of those that do, I cannot thank you enough! The Infernopolis of Agony
Welcome to Agony traveler! Although we will gladly welcome you here, don't expect the same treatment from the Flesh Kin locals, for they are not known for their hospitality. Most devils that travel here do so because they have no choice, or they are devoted to Infernal Master Alakash's work here in the Blood Vats.
However, if you are here, than you may as well enjoy your time by exploring the vastness and intricacy of this city! Here is where the true refinement of blood wine manufacturing is processed, then shipped elsewhere. So if you have a taste for it, you have definitely come to the right place! Alakash's high standards ensures that you will experience the finest taste from every bottle! If you have come to Agony looking for work, the factories always need more staff, as do the power plants. The work conditions are abhorrent, but if you are a tough devil, you can make more than a few power stones in overtime pay!
Speaking of the power plants, Alakash is credited among the Infernal Masters to have perfected the use of electrical lighting and ensuing the advancement of technology. It is a notable factor to consider that more than a few cities of the Infinitus have inherited the technologies of Agony due to Alakash's desire for discovery and commerce. After the Angelic Occupation ended, Alakash considered it a priority to optimize the practicality and security, not just of Agony, but the entire known realm! This is why you will see search lights have been installed on each of the wall towers, because all the cities were previously prone to aerial attacks.
At the staggering heights of the plateau are where you will find the most iconic locations here. For one, Castle Alakash stands at its head proudly, overlooking the infernopolis with all of his domineering presence. To each side of it there are power plants to supply his most intimate laboratories. Since the destruction of the Harlequin Laboratory of Terrible Thrills during the Angelic Occupation, it was necessary to upgrade the labs here.
On each extremity of the plateau, not far from the castle, rest the Institutes of Technology and Magic where efforts are continually being made to improve The Devil's life style. Right by the Institute of Magic is the newly built Agony Cathedral of Chaos in honor of Infernal Master Azathoth for defeating the Nephalim Marduk, and repelling the angels from the Infernum Infinitus. Around these key locations are some of the best and most comfortable condos your power stones can buy.
Though the gargantuan stairs were built early in Agony's existence, Alakash has since manufactured elevators to be installed for wingless devils, as most Flesh Kin are. These will be found on ground level and can take you to the massive shopping center built right inside the rock! There are also suites along the cliffs of the plateau, if you are extremely wealthy, that offer a beautiful view of the Temple Strip bellow.
Want some cheaper goods? All the sky scrapers have built in shopping malls where you can get everything from weapons, to armor, to you name the rest! Downtown Agony is fuller of action than some devils even like, so make sure to keep an eye on your pockets and your six! The only drawback to the high populace is the dizzying crime rate. If you thought Madeskaryan was bad, you won't want to stay here long.
If it's entertainment you want, the Agony Stadium holds competitions very frequently! Whatever are your fields of competitive interests, the Stadium will have it, and if you wish to compete, simply enroll! More than a few devils have made a quick power stone or two in doing so, and who knows? You may be the next winner!
Feeling feisty? Take a shot at competing in the Agony Arena! If it's blood you want, that is the perfect place to compete against the most vicious devils and the most terrifying creatures across the Infinitus. Death matches are reserved for criminals, so don't worry too much. Want to remain a spectator? The best and most expensive seats will be closest to the action, and the higher up in rows you go, even the poorest of citizens can afford to watch!
Speaking of crime, don't be caught on the wrong side of Alakash's laws. Criminals are often tortured both physically and psychologically. Depending on the severity of the crimes, you could indeed also end up in the Arena's death matches, or displays of public torture and humiliation. Criminals that Alakash has judged as "pathetic" are often unceremoniously hung by meat hooks from the castle walls, or some other public location for the "viewing pleasure" of his people, as he puts it. There are also those unfortunates that are sent to the Flesh Maze, and others who are fed to the largest known burrow wyrm in the Infinitus.
Whatever your purposes may be for visiting Agony, we sincerely hope you enjoy your time here! So feel free to soar the skies and take in the sights, or stable your stygh at the port to come have a closer look. If you need to travel elsewhere fast, and you have the power stones, the sigil ports are active all day and night! Stay safe traveler!
