Ruins of Echrul - Second floor

(See my page for the other floors)

These old elven ruins have long been abandoned but since a few years back the cultists on the Island of the Forsaken have used the ruins as a base.

From the two main towers, east and west, is the main way up to the second floor. The western tower is more or less in ruins and the staircase to the third floor has crumbled. From the broken platform you have a view out into the open. The eastern tower is still standing and have a functional staircase leading to the third floor of the tower. Even though some of the walls are broken the tower function as a common reading room and living quarters. Around the outer walls runs corridors, the northern corridor is surrounded with stick stonewalls but the eastern and western walls are wooden walls with windows, at least what is left of it. In the south there are an open courtyard connecting the old watchtowers, all of them are broken and only small platforms on the second level is remaining. In the courtyard someone has set up a small camp and a ladder leading up over the small stone wall as some sort of outpost overlooking the road leading up to the citadel. In the centre of the floor lies the grand hallway and staircase, just like on the main floor. Due to the staircase condition the main hall is used more as a corridor between the different rooms. Behind the old staircase, above the stairs leading down to the dungeon lies another spiral staircase towering up towards the third level of the citadel. The four rooms of the second level of the citadel are all in different conditions. In the north-west lies a large library and map room. Across the stone corridor are a very broken room where patches of floorboards are connected with a wooden bride. Due to its condition this room is used as rougher living quarters and seating area. Down below the broken floor the common food area can easily be spotted on the main floor. In the north-east lies accommodation and private rooms for higher-ups. On the other side you can find a large common area with food and drink and seating, not allowed for the lower class in the citadel. A small part of this room is used for living quarters for servants and workers.

This is a part of the "Ruins of Echrul" battle map made for the Island of Forsaken.

There are both a light and easy playable version of this map and a darker verison with ligths and shadows for a more ambient feeling.
