Nestled around a roadside inn - The Welcome Drover - which serves the cattle herders and trade caravans on the road to market along the forest routes, the village of Brookside is relatively wealthy, being the home of a retired adventuring party who decided to invest their gold in a more relaxed lifestyle. Their identities as local celebrities are well known in the communities along the roads and in their role as local hosts at the inn they tend to be generally tolerant of traveller's hijinks - at least until someone pulls a blade. Generally considered neutral territory, Brookside is a welcome sight after a long day.
