Æruriel

A map for my main fantasy world. Technically, it is not Æruriel, but rather it is "The Midgard of Æruriel" - Midgard being the name of the middle world of the Seven Worlds, and Æruriel being the name of the whole cosmos that it lies in - which also includes other worlds not included among the Seven.

Æruriel's Midgard is not round in the way that the Earth is. Whilst the east and west edges of the map connect, the world continues indefinitely north and south - with the cold quickly becoming fatal to even the hardiest of souls. The habitable zone of Æruriel is roughly fifteen thousand miles wide. Some accadæmics believe that there may exist other habitable zones far away to the north or south of this one - but if so, they are impossible to observe.

  • Scale 1 hex = 150 miles
  • Stars are capital cities - six pointed if population over seven thousand, else four pointed
  • Circles are other major cities - with a dot inside if population over seven thousand, else hollow
  • Diamonds are city-states with a population over seven thousand - city-states with a smaller population are not shewn
  • Fortified walls, railways, and major rivers should be obvious
  • Rough grey paths are major trade routes
  • Cracked sand with red rocks is desert
  • Light green is grassland
  • Dark green is forest
  • White is snow
  • Grey with white splodges is mountains
  • Cracked black with black rocks is gods-cursed wasteland
  • White dots are political borders
