Welcome to your local mine! Residence of the miners is located outside, with additional rest areas down on the lower levels.
Levels 2 & 3 have been the most actively mined over the past few decades. Abundant in coal, much of which has been mined and shipped abroad already. The over focusing on these levels caused instability on the north eastern wall. A collapse occured and sealed of a section of the mines on the floor 4, while also losing much of the 2nd and 3rd floors.
The dwarves worked switfly but have yet to gain access to that section of floor 4 as of yet. Much earth fell, and all who were buried, surely have perished by now. They have continued this clearing and restructuring heavily on the 4th floor, while limiting current mining expansions on 2 and 3. New tracks were added and ran down to the lower levels, additionally a lift was installed on the west side of floor 3 which has greatly increased the dwarves efforts in re-stabilizing and reopening the mining of the upper levels.
The dwarves are continuing development on the lower levels as well and only occasionally come up to the surface level to restock food and supplies before returning down to the lower levels.
The dwarves are on the brink of discovering why the mine collapsed in the first place. Initially it was thought they overmined the mountain on the lower levels. They started noticing pieces of marble which hadnt been found in the mines before but only amongst the rubble of the collapsed area. The tracks end here on level 4. The dwarves are continuing clean up the rubble and will soon discover something far more valuable the gold and gemstones.
After clearing up the rubble a discovery was made! The dwarves managed to peak thru the large marble doorways to discover a deep cavern filled with jade and marble. However this is no simple cavern. Monolithic Statues dawn either side with rushing water falls that fall off into the shadowy deep below. One colossal stairway leads down into the cavern. Do they dare venture further? What is this place? Who built it and when?
