Region of Alanore

This region is designed as a plug and play for any campaign or group looking for a new area to explore. The cities, villages, and ruins have no names to allow customization. I have also intentionally left some open areas so that additional ruins and dungeons can be implemented.

Things to note about the region:

1) The further north you go, the warmer it gets. If this was to take place on Earth, it'd be located in the Southern Hemisphere.

2) The middle sea is frought with danger. Many small islands dot the coast. I did this to allow for more opportunities of danger and exploration. I personally plan on using the Low Country Crawl Zine mechanics to help populate the different islands.

3) The mountain range in the North is cursed by cold weather and blizzards. The dwarves had once called the beautiful green mountains home and mined them for their vast ore deposits. However, they were punished for [insert your reason here] and the mountains became unlivable. There are two prominent dwarven cities that remain at the base of the range. These are filled with despondent dwarves that long for the former days of glory. There's rumors and tales that the curse can be lifted but all attempts have ended in failure. The mounatins are prone to avalanches, freak blizzards, freezing winds, etc. A very perilous adventure for those seeking death.

4) The desert in the Southeast is a frozen desert. The temperatures are below freezing and water cannot be found there - except for the rumored city that happens to sit on a geothermal lake. Getting there will take a lot of determination. Tales of a great magical tree that dwells wtihin the lake also abound but it's all myths and legends.

5) In the Northwest, there lies a ruin on a volcanic island. Many have attempted to explore it but have either given up or not returned.

6) The Forests in the Northeast are vibrant and lush. You'll notice that the trees are larger than trees throughout the rest of the map. This is intentional as these rainforests are comprised of massive trees that are as round as houses and taller than redwoods.

7) In the Southeast, there's a dead region. The tales abound as to what sinister evil tarnished the land. Swamps, quicksand, death surround this Town that's nestled within it. Many of the people that dwell there are strange and most citizens of this region do not like dealing with them. However, their crocodile skins are a rare item that nobles pay big money for.

So as one can see, there's lots to explore and do. Maybe you change the tales or embellish the rumors. The world is your sandbox to enjoy.

Thanks!
