There was a rush of magic as the portal opened, and they had to shield their eyes. The first thing that hit the party was the feeling of hot, wet air against their skin. It felt someone had just exhaled directly into their face. The thing that struck them next was the smell. The area through the portal smelled gamey, like freshly butchered meat left to age. Carefully, hesitantly, they stepped through, looking around with wide eyes and weapons ready.

It was dark and quiet here; the background noise of the city was gone. Instead, over the sounds of their nervous breathing, they heard a low, steady rumbling, like a slow heartbeat. The floor was fleshy, warm, wet, and firm but with a bit of give; every step seemed to stick slightly. It reminded them of the roof of a great mouth. There was only one thing visible in this place; a colossal house in what appeared to be a forest clearing. Only, there were no leaves on these trees and, the branches were not wood; they were almost transparent, like skin, and seemed to shudder, pumping liquid with each steady rumble.

The fighter looked around apprehensively. "Uh, warlock, are you sure this is the place?" They turned, looking confused. "Yes? This is the home of the Sanguine Sisters. My pact is with Sister Carmine. She's expecting me. Why?" All eyes were on the structure.

"Because that house? It looks... hungry..."
