Central Infernum Infinitus: Empire of the Devil's Throne: Reign of Infernal Master Azathoth, in the Era of Unveiling

A Word from the Inkarnator

After about eight months of detailing separate continents of my hell realm, I finally had enough material to conglomerate the whole thing into a series of POIs. My goal with this realm is to make it an environment where a "demon" character can be played, and in the future I plan to run some campaigns within it. I often asked myself as a player and GM, If mortal characters can go to Hell and have an adventure, why could it not be the same way the other way around? What if you could play a demon in its own realm, and get summoned into the realm of mortals some time during the game? So this is the realm of my devils, as best as I can represent it.

My main literary and artistic inspirations are John Milton's Paradise Lost, Dante's Inferno, the Cuthulu Mythos of H.P. Lovecraft, Gustavo Dore's artwork, and historical demonology. Paired with that, I also take much inspiration from Sumerian, Babylonian, Egyptian and Greek mythology.

Dedications

Two of the POIs on this map are in honor of two very special friends I have made on Inkarnate, and , the two main people I have collaborated with previously in my first year before the group event. LilyRose also helped me immensely, first with her inspiring detail on , but also for taking a peek at the developments in an ongoing fashion. So for her I crafted the Lilitu Rosa Oasis Falls Resort, the only place to find golden mushrooms anywhere at all, (which of course will have intense "magical" properties, no doubt), and I will likely make a separate map of it in the future.

For Possumpunks, I threw in a POI of the map we made together, .

Last and far from least, I would like to thank for the education he has recently provided us in streams on how to craft POI, world maps, and many, many more.

What remains to be read concerns an introduction to my Infernum Infinitus Guide, which I am slowly trying to craft piece by piece through my map making. The table of Contents at the very bottom is of course for those that want to compare the POIs with the original maps, but they are not all that great. I mostly did that to track my own progress, so not all locations are listed there yet. The introduction is more or less an overview, so if you are already familiar with my realm, don't worry too much about it. If you read it anyway, as always, I will love you forever.

Regardless, I wish you all a happy viewing of this piece, and thoroughly hope you enjoy all the ridiculously tiny little details. Though normally I don't do this, I will be posting an 8k version of the map on the Inkarnate Subreddit and Discord galleries.

Infernum Infinitus Travel Guide:

An Introduction

Name Definition: Celestial Language: Infernum Infinitus/ Latin: Infernalis Infinitum/ English: Infernal Infinity. The name was conceived as such because beyond what you see here, the realm is believed to go on forever in a crimson void of sky and random floating islands.

Long ago, the celestial beings were one, and worked together to craft the Creation, better known to some mortals as, the Cosmos. Due to the work that represented, there was little time for bickering. Once the work was completed, all of that changed. Sentient races that developed in the Creation started worshiping celestial beings as gods, harnessing a more defined relationship with each other. Eventually, three celestials, whose names are sworn never to be mentioned here, decided to try and forbid their worshipers from worshiping others than themselves, which began an uproar of rage in Heaven. Those that were in full compliance with these three formed a faction called Angels of the Body of Heaven.

After these serious disagreements on how the Creation should be run, there was a great war in Heaven. The losers of that war were banished, for those who were not destroyed, and came to live here in the Infernum Infinitus instead, then formed a faction known today as The Devil. The Infernal Democracy was thereafter put in place to avoid experiencing the same problems here as they did in Heaven. This would prevent a single being from ever having political absolution.

Thus, the Infernum Infinitus is ruled by thirteen Infernal Masters, and every few eras, one is elected to sit on the Devil's Throne as His/Her Infernal Majesty.

During the eras of Angelic Occupation, another difficult time in The Devil's history, was the first time an angel sat in The Devil's Throne and wore the Crown of Infernal Majesty which caused much damage to the realm, and disruption of its livelihood. The Infernal Masters were subdued, some imprisoned completely, otherwise the people of The Devil were enslaved. Cities were under the martial law of The Body of Heaven. Thankfully, Azathoth was freed by Queen Agravia Infernia of the Thorn Garden, and after freeing the rest of the Infernal Masters, the angels were driven out.

As far as trade is concerned, the chief currency in any celestial realm is power. Some areas boom with power stones and spirit crystals which are used to store power, thus are generally used as money. However the main reason why celestials seek out these resources, particularly spirit crystals, is because they can aid one in learning new abilities, as well as take different forms, or assume a greater or smaller size.

As for what materials are in demand:

Umbra metal, an alloy that has a crimson shine, to which angels are highly allergic, is in high demand for obvious reasons.

Wood is somewhat scarce in most of the Infernum Infinitus, at the exception of some areas like the Isles of Serpentus, the Great Halls of Web, and Lilith's Den, so is largely sought after.

Sulfur weed which can be smoked or steeped, can be found in most botanical areas, and is widely imported by more arid regions.

Worm bark comes from a specific type of tree that scarcely grows outside of the swamps of the Thorn Garden. It has strong hallucinogenic properties. It became very popular during the Angelic Occupation, as it can be used to produce blood wine, especially due to the depression going on at the time.

Each domain of the Central Infernum Infinitus has unique consumable recipes that may in fact require ingredients not found on location, so trade among The Devil is widespread. Yes, sometimes, when all the people are not being oppressed by the Body of Heaven, disagreements and fights can break out over resources, and the current Infernal Master/Mistress elected as Infernal Majesty is often called upon to resolve the issue.

Infernal Master Azathoth was recently crowned His Infernal Majesty for the first time since his one and only mandate eons ago, a privilege he earned when he delivered the realm from Angelic Occupation.

Though he is a stern ruler, the populous is glad to have a strong leader back in the throne, and all await the retaliation on the Body of Heaven with great anticipation. Strangely enough, considering Azathoth is the god of chaos, his rule has so far ensued the greatest proportion of peace and unity in the realm since Infernal Master Shaitan founded the Isle and city of Pandemonium.

So, traveler, wherever it is you might come from, if you are mortal or celestial from an outskirt region, this is a perfect time to visit! Below, we included a table of contents of each major location identified on your map so you can access more detailed information more easily. We hope it is helpful, and to your satisfaction.
